We'll be showing Oliver Perkins' original artwork for the month of February.
Oliver Perkins is a local artist who has done a bunch of paintings featuring notable nerd characters in a way you probably haven't seen them before.
According to Oliver:
Ever since I was a little kid, comics, cartoons and illustrations have always inspired me as an artist. Snoopy’s own imaginative fantasies in the Peanuts’ world led me to create a universe of pop culture fantasies. The organic form of my work brings people to a sense of youthful, imaginative nostalgia. Through free-form style, I give viewers a license to escape the adult world and to embrace raw childhood dreams.
I graduated from Whatcom Community College after studying art and took classes on printmaking and figure drawing. Printmaking had a big influence in learning to draw small and to create precise lines. From those courses, I adopted different techniques which matured my drawing style.
I’ve been influenced by major illustration artists such as Jack Kirby, Charles M. Schulz, Bill Watterson, and Jim Lee. They all had great talent illustrating emotions through their fine lines, depth, precision, and playful storytelling.
